The teapot SMERALDINA is part of the HYBRID collection, which was born from the collaboration between the Italian-Greek duo CTRLZAK and the popular Italian brand Seletti. Entirely made of Bonce China porcelain, the teapot represents the union between two different worlds and cultures that throughout history have fought and mutually influenced: East and West. Elegant and refined, Teapot SMERALDINA is perfect for fitting the table together with the other pieces of the HYBRID'S collection. This product is available online on the website Shop Decor with the following dimension: diam.15 H.11 cm.
Since 1964, year of its constitution, Seletti has always focused on the research of innovative and distinctive solutions in the field of design.
Seletti was founded in Cicognara, Mantua, by Romano Seletti. Since 1972 he has been travelling many times to the Far East, becoming a pioneer in importing home products. This activity continued until the ‘80es, when the international trade radically changed and a new generation, his children Stefano and Maria, began to introduce new ideas in the company. The collection of tableware “Estetico Quotidiano” has been presented: fine porcelain and pyrex glass are the materials used for the objects of this collection, which has already become a classic. Thanks to its enthusiasm, passion, resolution and experimentation, Seletti has created a real brand, becoming famous and recognized all over the world. Its commercial network has spread all over the world and the company has now two official branches: Seletti North America Ltd. and Seletti China. Big investments have been made also in the Seletti headquarter: a new showroom and new storehouses on an area of more than 7.000 m2, whose energy supply derives from one of the biggest photovoltaic systems of the Northern Italy. Seletti’s company strategy aims to the production of common objects that are full of creativity and artistic ideas and are, at the same time, affordable for everybody. The 2013 collections “Florigraphie” (table and pot mats made of straw), “Egg of Columbus” (lamps made of recycled paper) and the new polished dishes and cups mark a return to the original materials.
Today Seletti cooperates with many young Italian and international designers, who are quickly becoming famous and who are part of a young group that is developing and growing together. This challenge is leading to very good results. Derived from unusual and original combinations, evocations of art and attention to the daily needs, products made by Seletti enter houses of customers who care for elegance and design, and who want to create their personal and funny way of living.
CTRLZAK Art and Design studio was founded in 2008 in Milan by Greek-Italian duo of artists Katia Meneghini and Thanos Zakopoulos. They create works of art, objects, spaces and situations that allow the creation and the establishment of human relationships.
Katia Meneghini was born in Cittadella, in Veneto, she studied Graphic Design and Photography in Padua and then she graduated in Conservation of Cultural Assets at the University of Ca’ Foscari in Venice. She then post-graduated in Visual Arts at the IUAV University of Venice. She took part to several art projects and workshops, especially at the Royal Accademy of Fine Arts of Copenhagen in Denmark, at the FAAP of Sao Paulo in Brazil and at the Unidee program of Cittadellarte Fondazione Pistoletto in Italy.
Thanos Zakopoulos is a Greek artist, designer and photographer. His artworks show his eclecticism, through which he mingles different disciplines and situations in order to create projects halfway between contemporary art and design. He participated in different exhibitions all over the world and gave lectures in Europe and China. He is always travelling all around the world, in search of remote and strange places.
Through their projects, both artists investigate traditions from different cultural contexts, inferring notions from the past in order to build a new hybrid future. These artists experience narrative methods that allow the fusion between irony and symbolism. The created products lead to a deep reflection on memory and on the history of a place, without sacrificing aesthetics and functionality.
The eclecticism of Meneghini and Zakopoulos’s works allows the artists to move among several sectors, starting from the ideation of objects and interiors and ending with “site specific” installations.
