Naoto Fukasawa is a Japanese industrial designer, born in Yamanashi in 1956 and graduated in 1980 at the Faculty of Product Design of the Tama Art University. In 2003 he founded the professional studio Naoto Fukasawa Design and began working with important national and international companies, such as B&B Italia, Driade, Magis, Danese, Artemide, Boffi e Vitra. In 2007 he was rewarded with the title of Hon RDI- Honorable Royal Designer for Industry (Royal Society of Arts). During his whole life he has been rewarded with more than fifty awards, such as the American IDEA Gold Award, the German Gold Award, the British D&AD Gold Award, the Mainichi Gold Award, and the 5 th Oribe Award. Naoto Fukasawa is professor at the Musashino Art University and guest professor at the Tama Art University. Since 2012 he is one of the directors of 21_21 Design Sight, the first museum of design in Japan. He has been described by Bloomberg Businessweek as one of the most influent designers of the world.
