You're reviewing: Magis Chair One with concrete base

Konstantin Grcic is a German designer known as one of the best contemporary talents. He graduated as carpenter at the John Makepeace School in England and then attended the Royal College of Arts in London. His education has developed along two different lines: practice and academic research, experiences which, joined together has lead him to a highly personal style, made of essentiality and attention to the materials. He was just 26 years old, when he opened his first studio of Industrial Design (KGID) in Munich. The features of the designer can be traced in the definite and clear geometric shapes, in their clear edges and in the asymmetries, which include the continuous research of lightness and transparence, extravagant and funny characteristics. His conception of design aims always at a very high level, which enables him to receive many awards. In 1997 he received the Young Designer of the Year Award. The lamp May-day, which has been designed by him, is exhibited in the permanent collection of the MoMA of New York and received in 2011 the Compasso d’Oro. Among his most important clients there are: Agape, Whirlpool, ClassiCon, Cappellini, Driade, Flos, Ittala, Krups, Lamy, Magis, Moormann, Moroso, Muji, Plank, Rosenthal/Thomas.
