Michael Anastassiades began to study as a civil engineer at London’s Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine. He then specialized in industrial design at London’s Royal College of Art. He opened his studio in 1994 in London. Anastassiades combines notions of civil engineering and industrial design, proposing products characterized by a minimal, utilitarian and almost mundane style, which are able to express a sense of vitality and the will to partecipate and interact with the surrounding environments. His work is a balanced union between fine art and high design and it finds its maximum expression in the lightning sector, in which he is particularly active. Several renowned locations all over the world avail themselves of Anastassiades’s lights, such as Stockholm’s Grand Hotel and Soho House in New York. The Cypriot designer collaborates with famous brands such as Flos, Lobmeyr and Svenskt Tenn and works with well-known personalities belonging to the world of architecture and design such as David Chipperfiled, John Pawson and Studio FRAC in Orleans (France) and V&A Museum and Crafts Council in London. In 2007 Michael Anastassiades opened his shop joined to his studio in London. Thanks to them, he can supply his customers all over the world. His collections of lights, furniture and jewellery reflect his eclectic, individual and timeless style.
