Alessi is an Italian company, situated in Crusinallo (Piemonte, founded in 1921 by Giovanni Alessi. For almost one century it has been working in the field of Industrial design and has its roots in the traditional craft of woodworking and metal. In the early 50s the company specialized in the working of stainless steel and in the production of design objects for the kitchen. 1975 became one of the Italian Design Factories. This transformation was possible by collaborating with renowned international designers as Richard Sapper, Achille Castiglioni and Ettore Sottsass. The poetic and expressive search of design is at the basis of the corporate policy pursued by Alessi and which is linked with the idea of craftsmanship and tradition which the company wants to hand down in honor of its roots. Moreover, Alessi’s company consists in 3 different brands, in three different aspects which form the complex identity of such an historical company, namely: Alessi, A di Alessi and Officina Alessi. As a matter of fact they differ in the type of audience to which the objects produced are addressed. In other words, the three brands focus on products with different prize ranges and purchase opportunities. Among the most important designers, which have worked with Alessi we remember: Aldo Rossi, Alessandro Mendini, Stefano Giovannoni and Philippe Starck.
